Mudpuppy Palace is being thoughtfully designed as a one-of-a-kind destination where a children’s museum meets a nature center—created for learners of all ages. While many spaces are designed specifically for children, our vision goes beyond that. Mudpuppy Palace will be a place where families, adults, educators, and lifelong learners can explore, create, and connect with the natural world together.

Thanks to the generous donation of 4 acres from the Posey County Commissioners, our future campus will take root right here in Mount Vernon, Indiana. At the heart of the property will be a two-story, 10,000 square foot facility, surrounded by thoughtfully designed outdoor learning environments that support hands-on exploration in every season.

After four years of planning, research, and community engagement, we are confident that a space like Mudpuppy Palace is not only unique—but deeply needed. While our region offers wonderful nature centers, museums, and educational programs, there is currently nothing that brings together nature, STEAM, creativity, and hands-on learning in one place—especially for all ages. We also recognize the importance of creating something right here in Mount Vernon. As Posey County natives, we believe our community—rich in agriculture, industry, history, and natural resources—is the perfect place to grow something meaningful, collaborative, and lasting.
