We've also included our favorite tips and tricks to help you make beautifully clear, stretchy slime every time.

Ingredients/Supplies:

Individual Batch

1 cup clear Elmer's glue
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon Borax
1/2 teaspoon Vegetable Glycerin

(optional, for an extra soft and

stretchy slime)

Large Batch

1 gallon clear Elmer's glue
1 gallon warm water
2.5 Tablespoons Borax
3 Tablespoons Vegetable Glycerin

(optional, for an extra soft and

stretchy slime)

Directions:

In a small bowl or measuring cup, dissolve Borax into warm water, stirring until completely dissolved.
Pour clear glue into a large mixing bowl.
Slowly add the Borax solution to the glue while stirring continuously. Add only a little at a time—you may not need the entire solution
Continue stirring until the slime begins pulling away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead the slime with clean hands for several minutes until it becomes smooth and stretchy.
If desired, knead in tiny amounts of vegetable glycerin to create a softer, stretchier slime.
Mix in your favorite colors and sensory add-ins, then store your slime in an airtight container when not in use.

Troubleshooting

Too Sticky? (Underactivated)
If your slime sticks to your hands, stretches without holding together, or feels more like glue than slime, it needs a little more activator.

How to fix it:

Add just a teaspoon or two of the Borax solution at a time.
Knead thoroughly after each addition before deciding if it needs more.
Repeat until the slime reaches your desired consistency.

Too Stiff? (Overactivated)
If your slime feels rubbery, breaks apart instead of stretching, tears easily, or has a chunky texture, you've added a little too much activator.

How to fix it:

Knead the slime for several minutes. Sometimes that's all it needs.
Add ½–1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin and continue kneading.
If it's still too firm, work in a small splash of warm water or a tiny amount of clear glue until the slime becomes soft and stretchy again.
Remember—slime changes over time! It may become firmer after sitting overnight or soften as it's warmed up by your hands during play. Don't be afraid to make small adjustments until it's just right.
